Course Title: Mastering Family Law Drafting: A 4-Week Practical Course

Course Overview:

  1. Week 1: Introduction to Family Law Drafting
    The basics of family law, focusing on key concepts from the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, and the Special Marriage Act, 1954. The week covers essential drafting skills, including how to draft clear and concise legal documents. By the end of the week, participants will draft a basic marriage contract and participate in interactive quizzes and discussion forums.
  2. Week 2: Drafting Marriage and Divorce Petitions
    This week focuses on drafting marriage and divorce petitions. Explore the essential components of marriage petitions and different types of divorce petitions (contested vs. mutual consent). The sessions will include analysing sample drafts, drafting tasks, role plays, and peer reviews to provide practical experience.
  3. Week 3: Drafting Custody and Maintenance Applications
    In the third week, participants will delve into drafting child custody and maintenance applications. Key considerations influencing custody decisions and the understanding of maintenance laws will be discussed. Practical drafting tasks, case study analysis, and peer feedback will help reinforce the learning.
  4. Week 4: Final Project and Review
    The final week will consolidate the knowledge gained throughout the course. Participants will focus on comprehensive drafting, integrating marriage contracts, divorce petitions, and custody and maintenance applications. The final project will involve drafting a complete set of family law documents based on a provided case scenario, culminating in a review and presentation session.
